Coming to Door County This Summer…

This is the time of year that my anticipation is the highest, as Door County’s summer music schedules are in the process of being firmed up!

HarborView Concert tonight

Each summer, there is a dizzying array of music that serves as the backdrop to your Door County experience.  You can find live music every single night, and many nights you have more choices than you have time!

You want jazz, classical, blues, or good old fashioned rock and roll? We’ve got it all!

While the schedules are not quite ready to be released just yet, let’s take a look ahead at some of the villages and venues who bring live music to locals and visitors alike during the summer months.  Please keep reading my Insider blog, as I will have the schedules for you as they are released, and in some cases, we’ll get a true Insider’s preview, before they are released to the general public!

Let’s start in Sturgeon Bay, and work our way north on the Lake side and back south on the Bay side of the peninsula.

On Wednesday nights this summer in Sturgeon Bay, it’s the Harmony By the Bay series in Martin Park.  Last year was fantastic, and I cannot wait to see the line-up in store for us this year!

On Tuesday evenings this summer in Sturgeon Bay, the “Music Heals” Concert series returns for its second year with a stellar line-up of performers.

In Baileys Harbor on Friday evenings, it’s the Concerts in the Park Series in Kendall Park.  Bring a blanket, it’s colder on the Lake side!

In Sister Bay, on Wednesdays, it’s their Concert in the Park Series, by the water, in the gazebo.  There are often films shown after the music, so I am really looking forward to see what’s on tap this summer.

In Ephraim, next to Wilsons, in Harborside Park, it’s Evenings in Ephraim.  This is one of the most beautiful backdrops for live music, as the sun sets behind the band during the show.

Fish Creek offers a village series at Noble Square on Tuesdays in the afternoon.

The village of Fish Creek is also the home of the Door Community Auditorium, a 750 performing arts center which brings in world-class music acts year-round.  No visit to Door County would be complete without a look at DCA’s schedule, which will be released on April 25th.

Also, just outside of the village of Fish Creek, on Sunday nights, it’s the Fishstock Concert Series, an outdoor concert series at Camp David, in a great old barn on a gorgeous property, under the stars.

Egg Harbor also hosts several wonderful concert series, the Concerts in the Park Series on Thursday evenings at Harbor View Park, and the Peg Egan Sunset Concert series on Sunday nights.  Both offer a wonderful line-up and fantastic views of the sun setting over the water.

Also, just outside the village of Egg Harbor is Birch Creek Music Performance Center, whose summer concerts feature Classical, Percussion and Steel drum, and Big Band and swing concerts on most nights in the summer.  Birch Creek is one of a kind, and a must do for any music lover.

Just south of the village of Egg Harbor, at the Woodwalk Gallery on Friday nights (with a few Thursdays sprinkled in), Jeanne Kuhns celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Woodwalk Concert Series with some extra special surprises.  This is a wonderful venue, bring a picnic, tour the gallery, then settle in for some terrific music!

As you can see, Door County is the place to be for a music lover, and the list above is only a small part of the overall music scene.

Looking forward to seeing you here this summer!
