DOOR COUNTY MOVIE EXTRA / BACKGROUND ACTOR FAQ

What is an “Extra”?

An “Extra,” or background actor, is an unpaid, volunteer role where the participant gets to be part of the scene in the film.

How do I apply to be an Extra?

Due to extremely strong interest, applications for movie extras are no longer being accepted.

When will I know if I’ll be needed and for how long?

All confirmations will go out via the email provided in the application form for the first week of shooting by March 24th. If your availability is later in the schedule, please stay tuned for confirmation.

What scene will I be shooting?

Once you’ve applied to be an “EXTRA”, if you are selected, you’ll receive a follow-up email with all pertinent information including date, time and details. Schedules can change at a moment’s notice, so please stay flexible.

What do I need to wear?

Once confirmed as an EXTRA, you’ll receive specific instructions on what to wear. In addition, there may be special instructions from the set designer or costumer, which will be provided. In some instances, wardrobe will be provided, but that will be clearly indicated.

Will there be food provided?

Yes, meals will be provided for EXTRAS during the respective meal times. Please advise if you have any dietary restrictions, and if so, please be mindful if you need to bring something to snack on during the day. Water, coffee and limited snacks will be provided.

Will I for sure be seen in the movie?

While there is no way to guarantee that you’ll actually be in the film, the director will film several takes of each scene to be edited into the final version of the film you’ll see on the screen. Best chance is to show up with a great, flexible attitude and have fun regardless!

Can I post on social media about my experience filming the movie?

While we love the excitement around the movie experience, cell phones are not allowed on set as we want to keep the magic around the movie making process for the viewer. Please refrain from social posting at this time.

Where do I need to go?

Please refer to your confirmation email with the specifics for Date/Time and location of where to park, where to meet, etc.

What time do I need to be there?
