The Miller Art Museum is home to the world's largest collection of artwork by Gerhard CF Miller, a locally beloved artist and the most influential artist Door County has known. Miller was an energetic, generous, comic and endlessly creative individual whose creative spirit lives on today through the institution he gifted to the Door County community in 1975. In addition to the Miller collection, the museum houses an extensive collection of regional art comprising more than 1,200 works, 20th c. to present. The main gallery features regularly changing exhibitions, encompassing a wide range of subjects and media both historic and contemporary. Visit the Museum Store to browse a diverse selection of books, artisan crafts, paper goods and unique gifts! Located in the Door County Library in downtown Sturgeon Bay. FREE parking and fully accessible. Open 10-8pm M, 10-5pm Tu-Sa. Closed Sundays.

Founded in 1975 by Gerhard and Ruth Miller and open all year around, visitors are most welcome to come often for quiet viewing and enjoyment of a wide variety of exhibitions. In its history, the museum has presented 189 exhibits covering such areas as, landscape, still life, portraits, maritime art, sculpture, childrens' book illustrators (Jan Brett and Tomie DePaola), children's interactive (A Carnival of Art), woodworking/furniture, wearable art, photography, ceramics, holiday theme exhibits, Australian, Chinese, Japanese, Hmong, one person, and group exhibits. As a regular part of the schedule, the Museum hosts both a 4 county Juried Annual and Door County High School Exhibit to foster the development of local and young talent.

The Museum's Permanent Collection, with over 500 paintings, drawings, prints, and photography by exceptional Wisconsin artists from 1900 - present offers the viewer a highlighted look at the best Wisconsin has to offer. It is rotated 2-3 times each year on the Mezzanine level of the Museum.

Gerhard C.F. Miller, a primarily self-taught artist, who passed away August 16th, 2003 at 100 years old, attained national prominence with his extraordinary watercolor and egg tempera paintings. The Museum exhibits their collection of nearly 50 works by him on a rotating basis.

Other programs sponsored by the Museum include: a Community Artreach Program of art workshops for adults and children; a Picture Program of Master Artists for elementary students and senior citizens, a Reproduction Study Collection including works of Gerhard C.F. Miller and Charles L. Peterson, concerts, monthly educational exhibit-related programming, and tours to other museums. The museum gift shop carries a number of specialty books, reproductions, notecards/postcards, tapes, pottery, jewelry and more. Opportunities for active or sustaining membership are available.

Guided tours for schools and other groups can be arranged for by calling the Museum Office at 920-746-0707. The Miller Art Museum is fully accessible and is located at 107 S. 4th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay in the Door County Library Building. Admission is free. Hours: Monday, 10am-8pm Tuesday - Saturday, 10am-5pm.

December 31 - January 26, Galleries closed for installation of Castle of Art.

Castle of Art: Celebration Saturday, January 27th, 3-4:30pm; exhibit through April 17th. Children of all ages are invited to enter the museum's Castle of Art. Explore art, architecture, and fun; dress as a prince, princess, woodsman, or magician. Visit the castle's stables and garden; make a rose wintow; create a book of hours; weave our own "pocket". Imagine yourself in a different world.

32nd Annual Salon Of School Art, April 21- May 29. Reception, Monday, April 23, 7-8:30pm. Work in all media by students from Door County's 5 high schools.

XIII Biennial: Capturing Nature, June 2 - July 24. Reception Saturday, June 2, 3-4:30pm. Featuring many of Wisconsin's finest wildlife artists, both traditional realise, sculptors and painters with a more contemporary bent.

Dreams & Memories, July 28 - September 18. Reception Saturday, July 28, 7-8:30pm. Visions of Russian life by Russian artist Igor Shaimardanov.

32nd Juried Annual, September 22 - November 13. Reception Saturday, September 22, 7-8:30pm. Paintings, drawings, graphics & photography selected from artist's entries from five counties.

Coming Home for the Holidays, November 17 - December 29. Reception Saturday, November 17, 3-4:30pm. Invited artists interpret this holiday theme for a mixed media exhibition.
