Media contact: Morgan Rusnak, Destination Door County Membership Manager, morgan@doorcounty.com or 920.818.1138

Door County, WI - Destination Door County (DDC) is bringing Leave No Trace Tuesday to Washington Island on Tuesday, August 10.

Starting at 11 am volunteers will meet at Sand Dunes Beach to pull garlic mustard. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own work gloves. DDC will also have gloves available.

DDC staff will host a small symposium at 1 pm with an update on current initiatives. Heavy snacks and beverages will be provided.

Volunteers can RSVP for August’s clean-up, sign-up for email updates about upcoming events, or suggest a favorite park, beach, or trail to focus on in the future at https://form.jotform.com/dcvb1015/LNTT.

The Leave No Trace name comes from DDC’s partnership with Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics and the Leave No Trace 7 Principles the organization announced last year.

DDC rotates communities each month and welcomes suggestions for a favorite park, beach or trail to clean-up or work on. Reach out to Rusnak with suggestions at morgan@doorcounty.com.

Leave No Trace Tuesday is part of a larger DDC initiative called Care for Door County. Care for Door County focuses on cultural, quality-of-life, and eco-focused initiatives to protect and care for the county we all love. Since May, DDC has done clean ups in Sturgeon Bay, Baileys Harbor, and Sister Bay.
