"Go Pack, Go! A Celebration of Mary Jane and the Golden Girls" at the Door County Museum
Join us for a special event honoring Mary Jane Sorgel and the Packers iconic Golden Girls during the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay.
The Door County Museum is excited to announce a special event celebrating the legacy of Mary Jane (Van Duyse) Sorgel and the iconic Green Bay Packers' cheerleading squad, the Golden Girls, from Thursday, April 24 to Saturday, April 26, 2025. The event will kick off with a special reception on Thursday, April 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Mary Jane Sorgel, a beloved Sturgeon Bay native, made history as a dance instructor, world champion baton twirler, and founder of the Golden Girls. Her passion for dance and the Packers led to the creation of this cherished squad, which became a cornerstone of Packers tradition.
This vibrant event, timed to coincide with the excitement of the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, will feature an exclusive exhibit showcasing some of Mary Janes personal memorabilia, along with videos highlighting her journey and contributions. Former Golden Girls will be present to share stories, reminisce, and engage with Packers fans. The museum will be decked out in Green and Gold to set the festive mood.
The special reception on Thursday, April 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. will feature Packers-themed refreshments, making it the perfect opportunity to connect with the history of the Packers and celebrate this incredible woman and her lasting impact.
