Door County State Parks Challenge

Become a Guardian of the Greens when you double your donation and give the gift of a Door County state park to future generations. This community believes in the power of collaboration, and that's why Destination Door County is challenging residents and visitors to raise $50,000 in donations for each state park friends group through a special parks challenge grant initiative. With $500,000 already committed by the organization, your additional donation will boost the total to $750,000. All funds will be used to make enhancements at each of these beloved state parks.

If you hold one (or all!) of Door County's State Parks near and dear to your heart, help them flourish into the future by becoming a Guardian of the Greens.

Help create a lasting impact on Door County's beloved outdoor spaces. And you can choose which state park(s) receive your generous donation:

The Friends of Peninsula State Park have started construction on the first public mountain bike trail system in Door County, with Phase 1 funded through generous donations and grants. To complete the second phase, the Friends will continue to seek donations and grants, with plans to add a shelter, fire pit, and benches at the trailhead.

Potawatomi State Park

Potawatomi State Park

The Friends of Potawatomi State Park and park staff seek to update the old ski hill overlook near the Eastern Terminus of the Ice Age Trail through the addition of an open-air park shelter and updated parking. This location in the park offers panoramic views of the Green Bay shoreline from the top of the old ski hill. The new shelter will be an ideal gathering place for families, visitors, and hikers alike.

The Friends of Whitefish Dunes, park staff, and local Tribal groups are collaborating to redesign park exhibits with a focus on Native cultural history. New indoor and outdoor displays will highlight the ecological, geological, and cultural landscapes, featuring traditional Oneota-style buildings, tools, pottery, and more, with input from Tribal partners to create unique exhibits.
